Tips To Extend The Life Of Your Used Car

At CarLotta Credit & Car Sales we know a used car isn’t just a way to get you to work, to school, or from point A to point B. It’s a purchase that can actually help you improve your personal and financial situation. It permits you to get to your job and earn the money you need to get back on the road to a better life. In NEPA the lack of adequate public transportation and the spread out nature of our area businesses (and jobs), make this even more important.

Your on time payments will help you rebuild your credit and we’ll report your payment activity to the major credit bureaus, which can result in a better credit situation for you.

It is your responsibility and very important to protect your investment in this vehicle though. And saving money is even more critical in tough economic times. One way to do both is to take good care of your vehicle. Regular car maintenance prevents small problems from becoming big hassles. Here are a few tips to keep in mind especially with used vehicles that have a few miles on their odometer:

Every three months or 3,000 miles, make sure you:
• Change the oil and filter
• Lubricate the chassis
• Check all fluid levels and fill if necessary
• Check your tire pressure and wiper blades
• Check all of your lights to make sure they work properly
Also keep in mind that you should replace your vehicle’s air filter at least once a year or every 12,000 miles. It’s a good idea to regularly check tires for signs of wear and to rotate and balance them occasionally to ensure they wear evenly.

CarLotta Credit recommends a "quick oil change" type place to have your work done like "Jiffy Lube". They are fast, inexpensive and unlike tire stores or dealerships, they do not generally try to find and charge you for expensive work you do not need. They are all over northeast Pa also.

Take care of your car and it will take care of you. These inexpensive maintenance items can extend the life of your car and help you avoid large repair bills.
