Is Your Vehicle Ready For Vacation?

Summer is finally here and most people are itching for a vacation but like most of us, can’t afford the room in the budget to get away.

Remember…. Pennsylvania is full of Art- Culture- Activities- Events- Festivals- Camp Grounds- Cabins- Bed and Breakfasts- Amusements Parks and Scenic Byways.

You can plan a day trip or a few days away without breaking the bank.

It doesn't matter if  you are  headed in the minivan to Walt Disney World or to Ricketts Glen for a day trip  you need to make sure your vehicle is as ready to travel as you are!

Here are  a few suggestions to prepare your vehicle for a summer road trip:
                         1.  Coolant system- The number one reason cars break down in the summer                                      is they overheat. Make sure all fluids have been changed and the system is ready.
·         2.  Tires –All tires need to have the right amount of pressure and have been rotated as recommended.  You would be surprised how the proper amount of pressure in your tires helps with gas mileage as well. Also, how is that spare tire?

·         3.  Windshield Wipers – Coming off of the winter season, sometimes the wipers need to be changed from working hard on ice and snow. Wipers are inexpensive to change and a great idea to go ahead and replace before heading out on a long trip.

·         4.  Batteries Check to see if there is any corrosion that has occurred over the winter. If so, get that off and make sure it is connected properly

·         5.  Lights Check all bulbs. Don’t forget to have someone look behind you and make sure all proper brake lights are working as well. You don’t want to get pulled over while heading out on vacation for a non- working light!

·         6.  Oil – Has it been changed recently? Every 5,000 to 7,500 miles. If you are planning on putting a lot of miles on your car during the trip, it may be best to go ahead and change it even if your vehicle is technically not due for an oil change.

·         7.  Have an Emergency Kit! Always have a “just in case” care package. Flashlights, batteries, water to drink as well as water for the car.

We at   Car-Lotta Credit and Car Sales hope you enjoy your summer vacation.
