Is Your Vehicle Ready for 2016?

Here are a few easy things you should do for your 4-wheeled friend in 2016 :

Find the right mechanic. Keeping your car running well doesn’t have to be time-consuming or expensive if you find a mechanic you trust. Your local Car-Lotta Branch will be able to help you with recommended service shops in your area.

Make sure to get it serviced frequently, and stick to the schedule maintenance timetable. This includes things such as changing your oil, rotating tires and checking the fluid levels (oil, transmission coolant (anti-freeze). It also means not forgetting larger items like timing belts or water pumps and brakes.

Get your vehicle Inspected once a year …. Remember, Pennsylvania requires a Safety and in some counties Emission Inspection yearly.

Regular maintenance is important to keep your car safe. With proper care your car will last longer and some of the possible problems can be avoided.

Are You Looking For A Last Minute Holiday Gift For Your Car Enthusiast?

The best part of giving an automotive-related gift is that they
are used throughout the year!

Each time they are used, the receiver  will remember who gave it to them.

Here  are a few suggestions for auto-related holiday gifts:

Car Accessories
Car Seat Massager, Personalized Auto Floor Mats, Can Coolers/Warmer, Protective Pet Pads for Car Seats.

Safety Gifts

Roadside Emergency Kit, Jumper Cables, Talking Tire Pressure Gauge, Roadside Assistance Memberships

Auto Parts Store Gift Card

This is a typical last minute gift idea. It is one step away from just giving cash.

But if you know a car enthusiast their money would likely go to an auto parts

store, so why not get them a gift card to one.

Detailing

Everyone that enjoys their vehicle  loves it even more when it is clean. Regular

washing can leave the car in need of wax and dust can settle on the interior.

Detailing someone’s car is an excellent gift and it can be done in a couple of

ways.

Don't Forget the Stocking  Stuffers
Gas Cards, Key Chains, Air Freshners, FlashLights

Remember .... The key is matching the right gift to the right person !

Did You Get Your Deer?

Today is the first day antler and antlerless rifle  season in our area-

Hitting a deer is most likely to occur around sunrise and sunset. This is when deer are the most active—and that’s especially true during the final few months of the year.

How to avoid hitting a deer with your automobile ....

You can decrease your chances of hitting a deer by following these tips:
  • Slow down during dawn and dusk hours. Driving slower will give you extra time to react to deer  that dart into the road.
  • Pay attention to warning signs. Deer-populated areas are normally marked with a sign. Look out for them, especially during the fall and winter months.
  • Use high beams (if possible). Using your high beams at night will illuminate the road and help you spot deer.
  • Wear your seat belt. If you do hit a deer, wearing a seat belt decreases your chances of injury.

Is There A Difference Between Snow Tires And Winter Tires?

Tires are the single most important consideration for any driver who plans to drive this winter. With the winter season quickly approaching customers are starting to ask….. What is the difference between a snow tire and a winter tire?

Winter Tires

• These tires are designed for clear roads with a minimal amount of snow and/or ice.

• Winter tires are engineered with a rubber compound that works well in colder weather.

Snow Tires

• These tires are designed for much heavier snow and or ice at the expense of dry road handling. Snow tires don’t do as well on dry roads, but if you plan on driving around in an area with some serious snowfall, then snow tires should be installed on the vehicle.
So with a snow tire, you get chunky tread, a bit less stability on the highway and more noise, but you do get snow traction.

With a winter tire, you get a quieter ride, very little squirm, less noise good pavement ride and grip, long wear characteristics, and – last but not least – good ice and snow traction. Winter tires are dramatically better on pavement than the snow tires.

How Are Your Tires?

Fall is officially here. And that can only mean winter is  close behind. As much as you may dread winter, it’s never too early to start planning for it. This is  especially true when it comes to your car.
You can feel the cool, brisk air, see the leaves on the ground and hear the sounds of football coming from the television.

Before the first snow falls, you may  want to freshen up your emergency car care  kit, check the antifreeze and throw in that bag of kitty litter in case you need a little extra traction.
If you think your tires aren’t up to the job of winter driving, it’s time to swap them for a set of snow tires. Finding the right snow tires for your vehicle is an important part of getting your vehicle ready for winter. You want the best tires for your vehicle, and you don’t want to pay any more than you have to.

Keep the following in mind when you start you search:

1. Know what you’re looking for. By now you know that not all snow tires are created equal. Your snow tires should provide a strong grip in winter weather conditions, be durable, allow for a comfortable ride and include a warranty. If you can’t find snow tires with these four qualities at one store, it’s time to move one to another one.

2. Buy a matching set. When it comes to snow tires, always plan on buying four. Some drivers make the mistake of buying only two tires, such as two front tires for a front-wheel-drive car. This is not the best move; when you start to slide, you want to know all four wheels are evenly gripping the road.

3. Start the buying process early.  Tire retailers start to see demand for snow tires in the fall, so they stock their snow tires at this time. If you don't buy your snow tires before the snow starts to fly, it’s possible that the retailer's inventory will be depleted later on.

4. Don’t forget the additional costs. Unless you plan to install your snow tires yourself, be prepared for some extra costs. Most shops charge $10 to $20 per wheel for installation, and some may charge even more. You’ll also pay to have them removed once the worst of winter’s wrath has passed.

5. Ask about other tire options. See if your retailer has tire options other than conventional snow tires. For example, what about minus-size tires? Choosing a tire with a smaller wheel size and/or a narrower tread is known as minus-sizing. The tire’s smaller size makes it easier to cut through the snow. You can also consider studded snow tires. The metal studs make the tire handle better on ice—just know that they’ve been banned in some states because of the damage they cause to pavement. To better understand all of your options, make sure you ask a professional which alternatives exist for your vehicle.

Did You Remember To Change The Clock In Your Vehicle ?

Did you remember to  “fall back” by setting your clocks back one hour Saturday before you went to bed??  (The exceptions to DST are Arizona, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and American Samoa.)
Credit for Daylight Saving Time belongs to Benjamin Franklin, who first suggested the idea in 1784. The idea was revived in 1907, when William Willett, an Englishman, proposed a similar system in the pamphlet The Waste of Daylight.
The Germans were the first to officially adopt the light-extending system in 1915 as a fuel-saving measure during World War I. The British switched one year later, and the United States followed in 1918, when Congress passed the Standard Time Act, which established our time zones. This experiment lasted only until 1920, when the law was repealed due to opposition from dairy farmers (cows don’t pay attention to clocks).
During World War II, Daylight Saving Time was imposed once again to save fuel. Since then, Daylight Saving Time has been used on and off, with different start and end dates. Currently, Daylight Saving Time begins at 2:00 A.M. on the second Sunday of March and ends at 2:00A.M. on the first Sunday in November.

Do you need AWD or 4 Wheel Drive ?

Living here in NEPA which is  frequently hit by harsh winter storms and paralyzed by slick streets, the answer is probably YES.

The harsher the winters where you live, the more justifiable 4WD becomes.   Most drivers will do just fine with two-wheel drive since an increasing numbers of vehicles have electronic traction control and stability control as standard or optional equipment.

In a  four-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive vehicle  the engine powers all four wheels either part of the time or all of the time. Vehicles with  two-wheel drive means either the front or back wheels are powered by the engine.
Four/all-wheel drive can also help when towing and hauling heavy loads. The added weight of a large payload or trailer can destabilize a vehicle and create problems with traction, which 4WD drive can work to correct.
At Car-Lotta Credit and Car Sales, we sell all kinds of cars, SUV’s, minivans and trucks, including work trucks. We have sporty 2 doors, 4 door sedans, minivans, and sport utilities. Mileage varies, but starts at about 40,000 miles. We have vehicles up to 2013’s in stock now. Do you need a work truck? How about something a little more reliable? Is a minivan more convenient for your growing family? Whatever you need we have it at one of our superstore locations. Every vehicle is serviced at our own in-house facility so you can be sure of safe, reliable transportation.

All vehicles include our exclusive Car-Lotta Credit and Car Sales Warranty.

Are Your Tires Ready For The Cold Weather ?

Your winter tires are not designed just for snow – they provide increased traction in cold conditions too. Make the switch to winter tires when the temperature hits 45 degrees. Take care of your tires during winter and they will take care of you.

In winter regions, it is recommended  that drivers switch to winter tires when the temperature dips below 45 degrees Fahrenheit. Once the temperature drops below that level, so does an all-season tire’s ability to grip the road.

Many cars in the U.S. have all-season tires, but they aren’t built to hold the road in the same way that winter tires do. Winter tires are specifically built to deliver a 25 to 50 percent increase in traction over all-season radials. That’s enough added traction and braking power to avoid a severe weather-related accident.

Take 5 minutes every month and think PART :

                    PRESSURE

                        ALIGNMENT

                        ROTATION

                         TREAD

Car- Lotta Credit reminds you to check your tires, including the spare. The  benefits far outweigh the time it takes.

Do You Know About The Move Over Law?

Emergency vehicles take many forms and, while most are obvious, not all are. The obvious ones belong to state and local police and fire departments but there are other types of first res-ponders that aren’t commonly seen on the roadways.

Most states have laws prohibiting any vehicle from following within 500 feet of an emergency vehicleSome states also have laws prohibiting entering a city block where emergency vehicles are stopped with their lights flashing to prevent interference with the work being done.

What to do when an Emergency Vehicle approaches

Drivers should always be on the lookout for emergency vehicles. In modern cars with air conditioning and stereos, drivers may not hear an approaching emergency vehicle. Often, police agencies, not wanting to warn a prowler of their approach, will respond with lights only and no siren.

  • In your lane - If an emergency vehicle is approaching in your lane, pull over to the nearest edge of the roadway and clear an opening. Seconds count in an emergency situation and any delay could be deadly to the persons requiring aid.

  • In the opposite lane – If an emergency vehicle is approaching in the opposite lane, be prepared to slow or stop if the vehicle needs to turn into your lane.

Move Over Law

Between 1999 and 2009, more than one emergency worker per month was killed while aiding a motorist by the side of the road. As a result, 47 states have enacted some form of a Move Over Law. These laws require motorists who are approaching an emergency vehicle on the side of the road with its emergency lights flashing to move over into the opposite lane. If you are unable to move over you should slow down, in some cases to 20 mph below the posted speed limit. Studies show that most drivers are unaware of these laws but police agencies are enforcing them by issuing tickets to anyone who does not move over or slow down.

Car-Lotta Credit and Car Sales reminds you to treat any vehicle with flashing red, blue, or amber lights as an emergency vehicle and give them room to do their job.

Co You Have A Fall Maintenance Checklist?

Get your car ready for fall and winter.

Fall vehicle maintenance checklist:

Completing this preventative maintenance checklist is a way  to  help your vehicle adjust to seasonal changes.

You may not associate fall as a time to complete a seasonal preventative maintenance checklist.
While most of the items on this checklist are geared toward winter driving, it’s much smarter and easier to do them during fall when the weather is milder and less threatening. This is  especially true for NEPA residents.

So, let’s get started!
Fall Vehicle Maintenance Checklist:
  1. Check your oil level, and add oil if necessary; it’s even better if you perform an oil and lube job. Be sure to use a multi-grade viscosity oil for winter driving.
  2. Test your battery ( for free at most auto parts stores) . If it needs to be replaced, most will install the new battery for no extra fee.
  3. Inspect your windshield wipers. Bitter cold, snow and ice are hard on their rubber blades.
  4. Fill your windshield wiper reservoir with the proper type of windshield fluid for your climate.
  5. Look at the level and condition of your engine coolant. If the level is low, add antifreeze. If the condition looks poor, do a flush-and-fill.
  6. Check your belts and hoses. If you see any evidence of fraying, cracking or leaking, get a new belt or hose immediately.
  7. Consider getting a tune-up, especially if it’s been 30,000 miles or so since your last one. At the least, perform a visual inspection of your spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor.
  8. Make sure your tires are properly inflated. When dealing with sloppy or icy road conditions, you’ll need the best traction your tires can deliver. If your tires are worn, replace them before winter arrives.
  9. Apply high-grade car wax to your vehicle’s exterior to help protect it from the possible onslaught of snow, ice, sleet and freezing rain.
  10. Put together a winter car survival kit. Jumper cables, flares, ice scrapers, road salt, flashlights, flares, blankets, first aid materials and snacks are all good to include in your kit.

How Long Will Your Current Vehicle Last?

It’s official, Americans are keeping their vehicles  longer.
Maybe it’s because of uncertainty about the economy, or because manufacturers are making better cars, but the fact is that the average American is keeping his or her car for more than a decade now. The average car on the road is 11 years old and nearly 8 out of 10 drivers plan on keeping their next car for at least 10 years as well.

What does it take to keep a car running smoothly for a decade? It may be  easier than you think. Whether you prefer to spend the weekend taking care of your car at home, or feel better letting a certified mechanic handle the tune-ups and repairs, there are more resources than ever both online and inside garages to help you keep your car running smoothly down the road.
The following 3 secrets will help you stay on top of your car’s care to keep you on the road instead of on the side.
1. Know your mileage checkpoints.  Each vehicle has slightly different manufacturer’s specifications for service checks. Find yours in your vehicle’s manual to know what mileage markers your car will need a check-up and which components of your car will need to be watched carefully.
2. Ask a friend to drive. While you drive your car every day and are accustomed to what you call its “quirks,” your friend will be able to tell if something feels wrong. Ask them to look for soft brakes, your steering wheel pulling to either side, funny noises, or anything unusual.
3.  Make the time preform  the following:
  • Tire check
  • Exterior light check
  • Wiper blade check
  • Under hood inspection:
    • Battery
    • Battery cables
    • Air filter
    • Belts
    • Hoses
    • Fluids
  • Under car inspection:
    • Brakes
    • Steering and suspension
    • Drive axles
Preventive maintenance is without question the most effective and least expensive way to keep your car running for a decade or longer. Regular automotive checks can help prevent costly repairs in the future and keep your car and its passengers safe. However, sometimes repairs are unavoidable, so set aside money each month in case of emergencies. Smart planning along with proactive, preventive maintenance can keep your car running smoothly and safely down the road, and that’s worth a fortune.

At Car-Lotta Credit and Car Sales- We perform a thorough inspection of all our vehicles before the are ready to be sold to our customers.

Can You Change A Flat Tire?

It is good to know how to change a flat or damaged tire.Like everything, with a bit of instruction, when faced with a flat tire you should be prepared.

 * The first thing you need to do it identify which tire is flat, could be bulging from the low air pressure and look flat compared to the others. However if you have trouble you could use a digital tire pressure gauge to tell you which tire is losing air.

 * The second thing you'll need to do is get the required tools, in new cars the tools will most definitely be with the spare tire or in the trunk somewhere. Older cars may not have these tools as the previous owner may have kept them or lost them. (a tire iron /socket wrench and car jack) are all there in case you need them.

There should be a specific point on the body work of the car that is designed for the jack to attach to, using the tools, find the point and ensure the jack stays in place. You should be careful to make sure you don't use the jack in the wrong place as this can damage the bodywork or trim. Before raising the car you will need to loosen the nuts on the wheel you are replacing, this is because the wheel will simply spin round if you try to loosen the nuts once elevated. Be sure you are on level ground and base of the jack is solid and not wobbly.

Make sure you loosen or tighten nuts in opposite pairs; this is the safest way to use wheel nuts according to mechanics.

 * Once the wheel nuts are loose, begin raising the car up on the jack, only raise the car as much as is needed, any more and you could make the car unstable and it could fall off the jack. It is always safest to use a jack on a clear flat surface so it doesn't slip, if you have stopped on gravel you could place a piece of strong flat wood underneath the jack to secure it.

Once that car is raised on the jack remove the wheel nuts completely and lift the wheel away from the car, you need to store this wheel in your car. Next you need to bring out the spare tire and place it on the car, attaching the wheel nuts again. Once they are as tight as you can get them, lower the car off the jack and tighten up the nuts again with the tire iron or wrench.

 * Your car should now be safe to drive, however depending on the vehicle, your spare tire may not be suitable to drive on indefinitely so it is advisable to drive to your nearest garage or tire store to get your main wheel repaired. It is also important to remember that some spare wheels are only designed to be used at low speeds so consider this if you are traveling on a highway.

How Will You Celebrate Labor Day ?

Traditionally, Labor Day is celebrated by most Americans as the symbolic end of the summer. In high society, Labor Day is (or was) considered the last day of the year when it is fashionable for women to wear white.

Labor Day marks the beginning of the NFL and college football seasons. NCAA teams usually play their first games the week before Labor Day, with the NFL traditionally playing their first game the Thursday following Labor Day. Most school districts that started summer vacation in mid June will resume school near this day.

The first Labor Day in the United States was observed on September 5, 1882, in Boston, by the Central Labor Union of New York, the nation's first integrated major trade union. It became a federal holiday in 1894.Singed into law as a National Holiday by Grover Cleveland.

All Car-Lotta Credit locations will be closed Monday September 7th  in observance of Labor Day.

We will re open Tuesday September 8th, at 9:00 am.

How's Your Parking Lot Etiquette?

·         You know what they say. Our true character is what we do when we think no one is looking ... in the parking lot... Ever been in a hurry to get into a store to pick up a few things and forget common etiquette? It is regrettable that in our hurried lifestyles, common etiquette is seldom observed.
Next time you're thinking about behaving badly in the parking lot, remember  that you have the opportunity to make or break someone's day based upon your parking lot etiquette. The following are a few ways to make this happen:

·         Save the closer spots for the elderly or people with small children. Even if you got to the spot first, let in someone who you think may have more difficulty than you at getting in.
·         If you're going into a store, get a cart from the lot instead of waiting to get one inside the store. Even if they're a little wet and cold, they're just as good as the carts in the store.
·         If you choose to park next to a curb, hug it so that the person that parks on the other side of you has more room.
·         Consider reverse parking. It is easier to see and to be seen whilst reversing into a space than when reversing out, and safer to drive out of a parking bay than to reverse. Always check for signs about reverse parking. Many parking lots do not allow reverse parking. It takes longer to reverse park than to reverse out of a spot, and a busy lot can quickly get congested.
·         Choose a parking space farther away from the building. Fewer people want to park in a more distant space, so there is much less hassle, and it is safer. Plus, you get a little bit of extra exercise by walking.
·         Reserve disabled spots for disabled users. Cars without a handicap tag are not allowed to park in disabled spots. The appropriate placard must be used, and used properly. If the person the placard is issued to is either not in the car or not getting out of the car, the parking space cannot be used. This would take away a spot from those who truly need it. Violations of these parking standards can result in heavy fines.
·         Push an abandoned shopping cart back to the store or to a cart corral if you pass one as you walk to the business through the parking lot.

Car-Lotta Credit and Car Sales suggests taking the extra step-  Take the time to  give someone a compliment today as you walk through a parking lot.

Do You Leave Your Keys In Your Auto?

It seems like a no-brainer: Take your keys with you when you get out of your car.
While vehicles thefts overall are decreasing, car thefts with keys left inside are increasing.
A report from the National Insurance Crime Bureau reports that there were 126,603 car thefts with keys left inside between 2012 and 2014.
And while vehicles thefts overall are decreasing, car thefts with keys left inside are increasing.
The research revealed interesting information about where and when car thefts with keys left inside were most common:
  • The top five states for car thefts with keys left inside during this reporting period were California, Texas, Florida, Michigan and Ohio .
  • Saturday was the most common day for car thefts with keys left inside followed by Friday  and Monday.
Car thefts with keys left inside are especially unfortunate because they don’t need to happen. With so many advanced anti-theft technologies for autos out there, leaving your keys in the car is an open invitation out there for car thieves.

Car-Lotta Credit and Car Sales reminds you- NEVER leave your keys in the car!!

How Fast Do You Drive?

Did you  know that the first maximum speed limit was the 10 mph (16 km/h) introduced in the United Kingdom in 1861  ?

Road speed limits are used in most countries to regulate the speed of road vehicles. Speed limits may define maximum, minimum or no speed limit and are normally indicated by the use of a  traffic sign. Speed limits are commonly set by the legislative bodies regional police and / or judicial bodies.

They are usually set to attempt to cap road traffic speed; and are often done with an intention to improve road traffic safety and reduce the number of road traffic casualties  from  traffic collisions.

To find out how fast you should be driving checkout  the  speed limit in your state:  http://www.motorists.org/speed-limits/state-chart

Car-Lotta Credit and Car Sales reminds you to drive the speed limit- It's The Law!

When Do You Fill Your Gas Tank?

It is summer so get ready for more pain at the pump now that warm weather is here. Blame simple physics: cold contracts, heat expands.  Simply put.... you lose at the gas pump when temperatures rise.

Here’s why.

The government has standards for measuring gas. According to that standard, fuel should be measured at a temperature of 60 degrees. A change in temperature changes the composition of the gas. Gasoline  expands or contracts percent for every 15-degrees above or below 60 degrees. In other words, the fuel contracts in the cold. So when you buy a gallon, you get more energy for your money. In the heat, just the opposite is true: even though you’re still buying a gallon of gas, you get less energy for your money than you do in cold weather.

If you buy 25 gallons of gas at 75 degrees at a price of $4 a gallon, the higher temperature can cost you an extra $1. At 90 degrees, you’ll spend an extra $2. With gas at record high prices, it’s hard to justify spending even a few cents more than necessary for a fill-up.

So ....what can you  do?

You can eliminate some fuel loss from evaporative emissions by filling up at night or early in morning, when temperatures are cooler. Look for gas stations that do a high volume business. It’s likely the tanks at those stations will be refilled more often, so the gas will have less time to heat up to the environmental temperature.

Car-Lotta Credit and Car Sales NEVER leaves you empty.  When you take delivery of  a vehicle from us - You ALAWYS leave  here  plenty of fuel in your tank!

Does Car-Lotta Service The Vehicles They Sell?

Who Services Our Vehicles Before They Are Put On Our Lots For Sale?

Car Lotta Credit &  Car Sales 3 locations sell in total, about 130 vehicles a month. To be able to have those vehicles available for our customers, on our lot, and cleaned is quite an undertaking. To be able to do this up to our standards, we knew a long time ago that the only way was to have our own technicians at each location.
The technicians we hire and maintain come from multiple backgrounds, new car dealerships, self employed, military and technical schools. The important characteristic that they all have is this... they are very good at what they do.

We hire experienced technicians only and then train them to our way of doing things. You can be assured that your work is being done by a quality person, trained for the job at hand, reliable and cares about your car and his work on it. We invest an average of $1000 per vehicle to make sure they are ready for you.

Remember, we want your vehicle to operate reliably for you. Our goal is for every loan and every car to last for our customers. We want to have you return to us for another vehicle.

Keep Your Pets Safe In Your Auto.

Pets are part of the family. We like to take our animals  with us on outings.  No matter how prepared, it seems we always have to run a quick errand or two on the way to wherever we are going.

We solve this problem by parking in the shade, leashing or kenneling the dogs, and family members staying with the car and the dogs, keeping doors and windows open.

Never leave your pets in a parked car!

Not even for a minute. Not even with the car running and air conditioner on. On a warm day, temperatures inside a vehicle can rise rapidly to dangerous levels. On an 85-degree day, for example, the temperature inside a car with the windows opened slightly can reach 102 degrees within 10 minutes. After 30 minutes, the temperature will reach 120 degrees. Your pet may suffer irreversible organ damage or worse.

Even on cooler days, cars can heat up to dangerous temperatures

Even when parked in the shade on a warm day, animals   can succumb to  heatstroke or  death if left in the car unattended. Sadly, it happens every year.
If you are alone, the above scenario isn't possible and more creativity is needed. Here are some ideas.

  • Use the drive-up if possible. This works for some restaurants, banks, and pharmacies.
  • Shop in pet-welcome stores. Pet stores typically allow pets, and they do carry "human" items like candy and snacks if you are in a hurry.
  • Utilize a travel kennel outside the car, in the shade, if possible. Travel kennels are a great way to keep your pet safe while in fresh air, with cool water, and so on.
  •
All Car-Lotta Credit and Car Sales locations are pet friendly- Bring your pets in with you the next time you are in the area.

What Kind Of Vehicle Do You Drive?

Even if you don’t think your personality is reflected by the car you drive, other people do. The car you’re driving now is sending a clear message about you to the world. Make sure it’s the message you want people to receive.

Whether you purchase your car with intentions of making a statement or justly because you found yourself drawn to the vehicle, the type of car a man drives says a lot about his personality. So what does your car say about who you are?

Luxury Cars

Typically, people who make a lot of money and want to enjoy it own luxury cars. The men who buy these cars don’t care about gas mileage or practicality. They just want all the  luxury upgrades their money can buy to make driving the car a relaxing, and even decadent, experience.

Mid-Sized Cars

Those who drive mid-sized cars usually have young children. These cars are used to transport the kids, go grocery shopping and take family trips. These cars are usually highly rated for safety and are not flashy in appearance at all. Women and single fathers are the most common buyers of mid-sized cars.

Hatchbacks

Hatchbacks are usually very small cars. Don’t worry if you have a small car.  Driving a small car means you’re conscious of the environment and want to help improve it, you don’t care about the impression that your car gives off to others, and your goal in a vehicle is for it to be as  practical and economical  as possible

Sports Cars

Do you have a sports car? You might simply be trying to gain attention. That’s usually the reason most have for buying sports cars. Those who drive sports cars care more about having a flashy, good-looking car, than a car that runs well or is good to the environment. They don’t need it to carry a lot of people, since it will usually just be them driving it on their own, or with one other person. Financially successful people  going  through the typical mid-life crisis (sometimes married but more often divorced), are the most frequent buyers of sports cars.

Car-Lotta Credit and Car Sales has all of the above- Stop by any of our three locations or check us out at www.Carlotta.com .

What Do You Do With Your Old Tires?

Checking regularly to make sure your tires are  properly inflated, keeping your front end properly aligned  can extend the life of your tires.  Unfortunately... eventually all tires wear out. Most tires have tread-wear indicators that appear when the tire treads are worn down to the legal limit. You  can  do a simple test by placing a penny into the groove. If you can see the top of Abe Lincoln’s head, it’s time to head to the tire store.

What should you do with your old tires? If you’re a good citizen, you will  dispose of your tires the responsible way, by recycling them.
Americans wear out about 290 million tires a year, and they recycle 233 million of them, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
To find out  how to and where to recycle tires in check out the following link to   DEP's Tire Waste Program:

Checking Tires is just one small part of the safety inspection  Car-Lotta Credit and Car Sales performs on EVERY vehicle before it Front Line Ready to Sell!

Would YOU Say Something?

Whether you’re following your regular commute route or on your way to a movie or meet up with friends, transportation  is a key part of your day.

You are the first line of defense against acts of terrorism on our country—and your help is nedded.

Transit agencies have joined forces to bring you the “If you see something, say something campaign, which provides direction on detecting and reporting suspicious behaviors or objects around transit stations and equipment.

It can be difficult to know what “something suspicious” looks like – but trust yourself when something doesn’t feel quite right.

IF YOU OBSERVE SUSPICIOUS BEHAVIOR

DO NOT take direct action

DO NOT confront the individual

DO NOT reveal your suspicions

DO record as many details as possible

DO notify appropriate authorities as soon as possible

IF YOU OBSERVE SUSPICIOUS BEHAVIOR

DO NOT touch or move any suspicious objects

DO NOT use a cell phone or radio in the direct vicinity

DO evacuate the area to a safe distance

What Is Your Used Car Warranty?

If there is one thing that can be said about used car warranties, it is that you will find very little standardization to them.

Whether you purchase from a new car dealer or a used car dealer, the standard warranty can vary all across the universe--from "as is" (meaning, very simply, you don't have a warranty) to 12 month/12,000 miles, covering many major components.

The most common used car warranty, however, is a 3 month/3000 mile warranty that will cover only major drivetrain (the engine, transmission or transaxle, and rear end) components. If you buy a late model car, there is the chance that you will "inherit" the remainder of the new car factory warranty.

Remember that these warranties are all "either/or" meaning that the warranty ends when either the time or the mileage has been surpassed, whichever occurs first.

No matter what the warranty covers, make sure that you are clear on the limits of its coverage and have everything in writing.
It's better to know up-front what you can expect rather than to have a nasty surprise when a component breaks and you find out that it was in the excluded section.

Car-Lotta Credit and Car Sales NOW has a 6 month/ 6 thousand mile warranty on all vehicles- Contact your nearest Car-Lotta for more information.
